If you google the distance between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, it’s 258.2 miles. Being exact has a purpose. We track every step when we’re walking, and this is a story about survival. When you’re in survival mode, you want to know the exact distance to be fully prepared. For three young adults, the trek from Haiti to Dominican Republic is the distance between a life of fear to a life of promise.
Meet Charles Georgy, Jeandelet Tica, and Wideline Pompilus, all born in Haiti. Thanks to the Hope House Ministry Project, these young adults were welcomed into their orphanage in Haiti. The Hope House Ministry orphanage put a roof over their heads, helped them sleep in clean beds every night, gave them clean clothes, nourished them, educated them and taught them life skills. Over the years, they had been protected from the elements of political unrest, violence, poverty, health concerns and lack of education. When you read their letters, you’ll understand their strength and character.
They survived growing up in Haiti – a country that has been barraged by the elements of weather and constant need to stay protected from all the wrong things.
And once you’re an adult in Haiti, the law requires you to move out of the orphanage. How did they become orphans? Each of them has a story so you can get to know them and their gratefulness for being in the Dominican Republic. Hope Ministry Project, Inc. helped them with their transition, which has given them a life of promise. They are now building their lives in the Dominican Republic. They have plans for the University, a technical college and music, and they have greater access to the education they need.
There’s a purpose that Hope Ministry Project, Inc. provides that gives these young adults a life of promise. I hope you can help us with a donation that will go toward their housing. This is the first time since the start of the orphanage in Haiti that we’ve had to help young people transition to another country. We have financial needs for the children at the orphanage as well, but today we wanted to set aside financial funds specifically for these young people. Maybe you can help right now. God bless you and the donation you can afford. Thank you!
